  • Weak ending

    Some have complained about the leftist leaning parts. They were opinionated and negative remarks, but I can read through those. What earned my low rating was the weak ending. It wasn’t a brilliant display of courtroom reveals, or because of any strategy employed by the main character. It was a cheap out. An easy fix. And inserting Harry Bosch was more of a gimmick, not anything substantive. Disappointed to say the least. And I never write reviews.

    I regret saying this, as I have enjoyed reading and rereading perhaps 20 of his novels, but I think it is time he retire from writing. I question his judgement, and find it flawed. Not only are the plot lines and endings in his last two Mickey Haller books somewhat incredulous, but now he has chosen to insult and alienate perhaps half his reading audience, by choosing to put in negative comments about Trump and anyone who supports him. This book should only be read by people on the left. To quote from chapter 37: “If (juror) 68 was a supporter of the president, it was likely this person was a law-and-order hardliner... That this person had chosen to support the president after the media had documented his many, many untruths was a factor as well. It was blind loyalty to a cause, and an indicator that truthfulness was not a part of her framework.” Mr. Connelly, my personal take is that you don’t know what honesty looks like, and that you are foolish for including comments like this. I will gladly stop reading your books. If you want to understand the real world better, my advice is that you find a way to get out of California more, but my guess is that you will not, and that’s fine with me.

    If it weren’t for the coronavirus I wouldn’t have paid for this book. I found it pedantic, perhaps worthy of a People Magazine award...for something.

    I was planning on purchasing it until I read the reviews. I’ve read most of his books, but I don’t understand why Connelly has to politicize his story. Way too many other great authors that just write a story! You’ve lost me

    The writing style is boring, and the subject matter is cartoonish in its attempts to make the travails of a criminal defense lawyer interesting. A disappointment for fans of Harry Bosch, a much more interesting protagonist.

    Gullible The Trump fan base is when he has been ripping people off and not paying them for decades ! The man has not paid plenty of people who were contracted out by him that I know .And it boggles my mind you brainwashed souls would actually be offended from your favorite author just cuz he may have hurt your little cupcake feelings . GROW UP AND WAKE UP
